“After moving to this beautiful island in 2023, I wanted to give something back. I’d cared for family members back home and discovered a passion for helping people who need extra support. Volunteering at Jersey Cheshire Home has given me a chance to make a tangible difference in the lives of others.”

Bella plays a hands-on role in supporting residents, offering assistance with dressing, personal care and just as importantly, companionship and comfort.

What they enjoy most
“Volunteering at Jersey Cheshire Home connects me deeply with the people I support. I’ve met people from all walks of life, learned new perspectives, and picked up valuable life lessons just from talking to the residents. I always leave with advice and insights I can use in my own life.”
A memorable moment
“One moment that stood out was helping a resident eat her yoghurt. After every spoonful, she said ‘thank you.’ It was such a simple but powerful reminder of how much the little things matter. That moment really stayed with me.”
What makes Jersey Cheshire Home special
“Jersey Cheshire Home is unique, it’s the only place on the island that focuses solely on supporting adults with disabilities. But it’s more than that. It’s truly a home from home. There are so many ways to get involved, from boxing to crocheting and I’m also learning new skills through training opportunities. I get to grow while doing what I love.”
