Role Purpose

To oversee the human resources responsibilities and activities of Jersey Cheshire Home.

To manage the recruitment processes, employee relations, regulatory compliance, surveys, Health and Safety and training and development.

Duties

  1. To ensure legal compliance in all area’s relating to Human Resources and Health and Safety, and Jersey Care Commission requirements, supporting the Home to meet all relevant standards and regulations.
  2. Updating and developing required policies and procedures.
  3. Being actively involved in recruitment by preparing job descriptions, posting adverts, conducting interviews, making job offers, reference checking and managing the hiring process.
  4. Assist the CEO with succession planning and business continuity planning.
  5. Conduct required disciplinary or grievance investigations.
  6. Maintaining accurate employee records.
  7. Colleague training and development.
  8. Supporting Managers with performance and capability management.
  9. Co-ordinate and support with colleague appraisals and reviews such as return-to-work interviews, exit interviews or conflict resolution.
  10. Be a brand ambassador for Jersey Cheshire Home, living our values and mission.
  11. Maintain good culture.
  12. Any other duties required in the pursuit in the successful operations of the Home.
  13. Support and coordinate Jersey Care Commission inspections, audits, and reporting requirements, ensuring that HR records, policies, procedures, and employment practices meet regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

  1. Proactive Human Resources Planning.
  2. Work with company CEO to plan HR initiatives.
  3. Educate, train, monitor, problem-solve, and ensure that the company HR policy is followed across all colleagues and managers.
  4. Review employment and working conditions to ensure legal compliance.
  5. Support the development and implementation of HR initiatives and systems.
  6. Provide counselling on policies and procedure.
  7. To manage the recruitment process by identifying candidates, conducting reference checks, and issuing employment contracts.
  8. Create and implement effective onboarding plans.
  9. Create training and development programs including induction, wellbeing, and risk.
  10. Coordinate employee development plans and performance management.
  11. Support the management of disciplinary and grievance issues.
  12. Maintain employee records (DBS checks, references, compensation, attendance, training, and promotion) according to policy and legal requirements.
  13. Create health and safety guidelines and implementing it as part of our culture.
  14. Organise and ensure all inductions are completed.
  15. Maintain colleague motivation and required rewards and recognition systems.
  16. Monthly reporting of Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) including Colleague communication.
  17. Prepare, analyse, and implement colleague attitude surveys when required.
  18. Support colleagues and Managers with career planning.

Competencies and Behaviours

Organisation Excellent organisational skills to keep track of employee information to help ensure company-wide productivity.

Verbal and written communication excellent verbal and written communication. And the ability to write effectively to all levels of the organisation to communicate ideas.

Computer literacy Computer literacy refers to the level at which someone can operate computers and digital technologies, need to have proficiency in computer software to complete daily job duties effectively.

Interpersonal communication it is essential that you can communicate effectively between different groups of people. This is a crucial skill as you will have to interact with those in more senior roles and employees alike, so they need to be able to monitor your communication methods to cater to a variety of professional relationships.

Confidentiality This is the process by which someone can keep sensitive information private. This is an essential skill for this role because you are trusted with confidential and sensitive information. For example, you will have access to personal employee information, including phone numbers, addresses and medical information, but they cannot disclose it to unauthorised personnel.

Compassion an essential skill because colleagues rely on you to listen to their concerns and work to find solutions that improve their workplace experience. In your role you should care about our employees and well as the residents and their happiness because it can motivate positive change within the workplace culture. Teamwork and collaboration are an essential part of the role.

Creativity helps to identify new and unique ways to solve problems and improve the onboarding process and other HR or employee relation issues.

Decision-making is a required skill as you will be trusted and empowered to make decisions regarding daily operations.

Experience and Qualifications

  1. Proven experience as HR officer, administrator or other HR position
  2. Completed CIPD Level 3 qualification
  3. Knowledge of HR functions (pay & benefits, recruitment, training & development etc.)
  4. Understanding of employment and Health and Safety laws and disciplinary procedures
  5. Outstanding organisational and time-management abilities
  6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  7. Problem-solving and decision-making aptitude
  8. Strong ethics and reliability
  9. Excellent record keeping skills
  10. Meticulous attention to detail
  11. Works comfortably under pressure and meets tight deadlines
