What is Red for Ability?
Red for Ability is Jersey Cheshire Home’s campaign to celebrate International Day of Persons with Disabilities on December 3rd 2024.
The campaign invites the Jersey community; schools, businesses and individuals, to join in raising awareness, promoting inclusion and supporting those living with disabilities.

Highlight the challenges individuals with disabilities face and the importance of building a community where everyone feels included. - Promote Inclusion
Through the #RedForAbility challenge and local participation, the campaign aims to spread understanding and respect. - Encourage Community Engagement and Support for Jersey Cheshire Home
All funds raised through donations and corporate partnerships will support Jersey Cheshire Home’s essential services, including residential and respite care and therapies that enhance the quality of life for people with disabilities.
How Can You Get Involved?
Wear Red on 3rd December
Show your solidarity and commitment to disability inclusion by wearing red. Encourage friends, family and colleagues to join you.
Take Part in the #RedForAbility Challenge
Complete a small activity related to disability awareness, like navigating a task with one hand or doing an obstacle course blindfolded. Share your video on social media with the hashtag #RedForAbility, tag @JerseyCheshireHome, and challenge others to do the same!
Support Jersey Cheshire Home
Consider making a donation to JCH or partnering as a local business by donating a portion of sales or lighting up your premises in red on 3rd December. Every contribution goes directly to support our services.

#RedForAbility Challenge Guidelines
The #RedForAbility challenge is a fun and meaningful way to promote disability awareness and inclusion during December 2024.
By completing a simple task with a simulated disability, you can experience some of the challenges that individuals with disabilities face daily.
Follow the instructions below to join the challenge, show your support, and raise awareness!
How to Participate
- Choose a Challenge Activity
Select one of the activities below to simulate a common obstacle faced by people with disabilities. Or create your own challenge Please wear something red whilst completing the task to show your support! -
- One-Handed Challenge: Complete a task using only one hand, such as tying your shoes, writing your name, or making a sandwich.
- Blindfolded Navigation: Set up a simple obstacle course or attempt to walk across a room blindfolded with a guide or carefully placed markers.
- Non-Dominant Hand Task: Use your non-dominant hand to write a message of support, such as “#RedForAbility” or “Supporting Ability, Shaping Inclusion.”
- Record Your Challenge
- Take a video or series of photos while completing your chosen activity.
- Make sure the video captures the full challenge to help viewers understand the importance of disability awareness.
- Share on Social Media
- Post your video or photos on social media with a caption that explains the challenge and includes the hashtag #RedForAbility.
- Tag @JerseyCheshireHome and invite others to join! Consider tagging three friends, colleagues or classmates to take the challenge too.
- Encourage Others to Participate
- Encourage viewers to wear red, join the #RedForAbility challenge, and donate to Jersey Cheshire Home to support their services for individuals with disabilities.

Additional Tips for the Challenge
- Stay Safe: Only attempt challenges you can safely complete, especially when blindfolded or if balancing tasks.
- Get Creative: Feel free to come up with your own challenge, as long as it aligns with the campaign message of raising awareness for disability inclusion.
