Jersey Cheshire Home completes major expansion as new bedrooms are already fully occupied

£640,000 support from the Harold Ernest Le Seelleur Fund helps increase capacity and enhance specialist rehabilitation facilities.

Jersey Cheshire Home have completed a major development to increase our residential capacity and enhance specialist rehabilitation services for Islanders with disabilities, with substantial support from the Harold Ernest Le Seelleur Fund.

The development has created three additional bedrooms, all of which are already fully occupied, demonstrating the growing demand for specialist nursing care and rehabilitation services in Jersey.

The project has also significantly enhanced the Home’s rehabilitation facilities, including the relocation of our gym and the creation of a new dedicated specialist therapy room.

The H E Le Seelleur Fund contributed £640,000 towards the development, enabling Jersey Cheshire Home to increase its residential capacity and improve its specialist rehabilitation provision.

Jersey Cheshire Home also invested our own funds to extend the scope of the project and make further improvements to the facilities and environment for residents, their families, visitors and colleagues.

Donna Abel, CEO of Jersey Cheshire Home, said:

“We are extremely grateful to the Harold Ernest Le Seelleur Fund for its generous support. This significant contribution has enabled us to create three much-needed additional bedrooms and make important improvements to our rehabilitation facilities.

“The fact that all three new rooms are already occupied demonstrates the level of demand for specialist care and rehabilitation in Jersey. We are already considering how we can increase our capacity further so that more Islanders can access the specialist support they need without having to leave the Island.

“This development is about more than additional bedrooms. Our relocated gym and new specialist therapy room will help people work towards their rehabilitation goals, maximise their independence and achieve the best possible quality of life.

“We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to The Health Minister Tom Binet and his team for their valued support throughout this project, and to Building Renovations Ltd for the high-quality workmanship delivered throughout the development.

“Our sincere thanks go to everyone who has helped make this important development possible.”

The completed project represents a significant investment in specialist care and rehabilitation for Islanders with disabilities, increasing residential capacity while improving the facilities available for rehabilitation and therapy.

With the three additional bedrooms already occupied, Jersey Cheshire Home is now considering opportunities for further expansion to help meet growing demand and enable more Islanders to receive specialist care and rehabilitation on-Island.
