Jersey Cheshire Home Summer Ball raises over £20,000 to kick-start garden accessibility project

Jersey Cheshire Home’s ambitious plans to create a wonderful, accessible outside space for residents received a huge kick start this month, with over £20,000 raised from their Summer Ball.

The event, held at Royal Yacht Hotel, was a glamorous evening of entertainment with live music by The Jersey Bounce and DJ Mel. Guests enjoyed arrival drinks, a three delicious three course dinner, an exciting raffle and an auction with exclusive items up for bids, the funds from which all helped towards achieving the final amount of over £20k.

The Garden Accessibility Project aims to transform the garden at the St Helier home into a fully accessible area, promoting physical activity, social interaction and boosting mental well-being for residents. Modifications will include wheelchair-accessible paths, a bridge connecting the inside and outside space. raised garden beds and shaded areas for outdoor activities.

Donna Abel, CEO of Jersey Cheshire Home, expressed her gratitude, saying,

“This incredible support demonstrates our community’s commitment to improving the lives of our residents. If we can create the wonderful garden space that we envisage then we will significantly impact their quality of life, allowing them to enjoy the outdoors safely and independently.”

She added,

“We are incredibly grateful to our sponsors Le Pelley, without whose support we could not hold this important fundraising event. We’d also like to thank Pallot Glass and Windows for funding a table for our residents so they could participate, and our heartfelt thanks goes to all attendees, sponsors and supporters whose generosity is helping us to make a lasting difference.”
