Parkinsons Disease: Richard’s Story
Have you heard of Parkinsons? It’s one of those conditions people hear about, but don’t necessarily have any personal experience of.
I was the same as you – I worked, I raised my family, I lived my life (and I loved my life). Then, I noticed a tremor in my hand. It was subtle at first. Trapped nerve, I thought. But then it got worse.
There were other signs too – things that aren’t normally associated with Parkinsons. For years, I lived the best life I could, not letting Parkinsons stop me. But in the end, it became too much.
When I was told that I had reached stage 5 of the condition, I knew it was time to get help. I couldn’t care for myself anymore, and my family were struggling too. I needed full time care. I couldn’t event move around without a wheelchair.
We contacted the team at Jersey Cheshire Home, and they were amazing. This is my new home now, and it’s like having an extended family. The care that they show me is amazing.
Without your kind donations, people like me wouldn’t get the specialist care we rely on. Please support Jersey Cheshire Home in any way you can, and help islanders like you and me live our best lives.
