Supporting the Home, Step by Step with Paul Coundley
Today, we’re proud to spotlight Paul Coundley, a long-standing member of our Foundation Committee, whose journey with Jersey Cheshire Home began on the Inca Trail in 2009 and hasn’t stopped since.
How it all began
“What inspired me to join? A walk—literally. Trekking for Jersey Cheshire Home has taken me to amazing places for a good cause: raising funds and awareness. This year (2025), it was our 9th trek, and we went to Vietnam!”
“It’s about giving back and helping the Home continue its great work for residents and Islanders.”
Paul is a chartered accountant with experience in finance, governance and risk management. He currently serves as Honorary Secretary of the Foundation Committee.
“My role supports financial oversight, governance and compliance, especially as new care regulations and charity laws have come into play.”
What makes JCH unique?
“There’s nothing else like it in Jersey. The Home’s ability to rehabilitate and support residents, even in the face of challenges, is remarkable. The care and positivity here really stand out.”
Proudest achievement
“Despite COVID, rising costs and funding challenges, the Home has remained a place of care, progress and community. I’m proud we’ve expanded resident numbers, secured project grants and worked towards more sustainable Government support.”
“I’ve gained a deep appreciation for how vital Jersey Cheshire Home is to our Island. The third sector fills a gap that would otherwise be left open. And as trustees, our responsibility to ensure good governance has never been greater.”
Encouraging others
“Thinking about supporting Jersey Cheshire Home? Do it. You’ll be backing a Home that truly enhances lives every single day. Whether you give time, funds or skills, every bit makes a difference.”
We’re incredibly grateful to Paul Coundley for his dedication, leadership and ongoing support. His expertise in governance and finance helps ensure Jersey Cheshire Home continues to thrive and provide exceptional care for adults with disabilities on the island.
