Why she volunteers
“Volunteering at Jersey Cheshire Home has given me the chance to be part of something. It’s had a really positive impact on my wellbeing and I’m so grateful to be included and supported as part of the team.”
Her role at the community centre
Karen volunteers in the Community Centre, working alongside the team to prepare and serve food and help make sure everything runs smoothly.
“I assist with food service, refill the sugar bowls and help look after the customers. It’s all about working together.”
What she enjoys most
“I love interacting with the customers and seeing them smile. It makes me happy to know I’ve helped brighten someone’s day.”

“It’s helped me manage my anxiety and given me a real sense of purpose. It’s shown me that I do fit in, even with my own difficulties, and that’s made a huge difference to how I feel about myself.”
