Motor Neurone Disease: John’s Story
I had a successful career in front of me. I was going places. I loved going out with my friends and having fun. I started to notice changes in my body. Muscle twitching, clumsiness, pins and needles. I didn’t think much about it at first. Then things got worse.
I was tripping over things, one of my legs seemed to get weaker – thinner almost. I was tired all of the time. I was even thinking differently. My friends and family convinced me to see help, and after running tests, my doctor diagnosed me with Motor Neurone Disease.
I didn’t know much about MND. It’s not a disease that is particularly common, or spoken about, but it’s changed my life. I can no longer look after myself. My mobility and movement is impacted, even breathing and swallowing can be a challenge.
Jersey Cheshire Home restored my dignity, and gave me back some quality of life. They give me the help and support I need, and provide therapies and treatments.
I never thought this could happen to me. I was just like you. I was healthy, happy and living my best life. If it wasn’t for the team at Jersey Cheshire Home, I don’t know where I would be now. Please support this amazing charity and help people like me. People like us.
