Dress in Red to support Jersey Cheshire Home 2022

Jersey Cheshire Home is inviting islanders to dig out their bright ruby, scarlets, crimsons, pillar-box reds and any other shade of red they have in their wardrobes to help support islanders with disabilities this December.

The team from the Home have organised a Dress in Red Day on Friday 2nd December to coincide with International Day of Persons with Disabilities on Saturday 3rd December, a day which has been promoted by the United Nations since 1992.

Jersey Cheshire Home hope that everyone including local businesses and schools across the island will join in the Friday fun day, wear something red and donate a few pounds to raise much needed monies for this valued local cahrity.

It is the only residential facility on the island caring solely for adults with disabilities and all monies raised from the day will be going straight to the Home which costs £8,200 per week to run.
Commenting on the initiative, Donna Abel, CEO Jersey Cheshire Home said, “We care for 30 islanders who are physically disabled, providing them with a home from home thanks to our 68 fantastic colleagues who give them all exceptional 24/7 professional care. We also provide support to the wider community through various therapies and adult day care. Fundraising is vital in order to help enrich the lives of those in our care.”

“There are 14,000 islanders living with some form of disability and it’s very fitting that our Dress up in Red Day ties in with International Day of Persons with Disabilities which highlights the challenges, barriers and opportunities for people who live with disabilities.

“We’d love everyone taking part in our fundraising effort to email their pictures to fundraising@jch.je so that we can share them all on social media and show their support.”
